Battles Tied for 11th Entering Final Round at Fallen Oak

SAUCIER, Miss. – Hunter Battles shot a 73 (+1) to put himself in the top 15 of the Individual Leaderboard after two rounds of the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational Monday at the Fallen Oak Golf Course.
After carding a 70 (-2) in the opening round on Sunday, the Muscle Shoals, Ala., product sits in a tie for 11th place with a score of 143 (-1) heading into the final round of play.
Battles picked up a birdie on the front and back nine. The fifth-year senior was even-par on the front nine with a score of 36. Battles registered a birdie on the seventh hole, a 330-yard Par 4, and while bogeying the 488-yard par four on hole No. 5. He bogeyed holes 11 and 15 on the back end before rebounding by birdieing the 240-yard Par 3 on hole No. 17.
Jake Plumb showed consistency by firing a 74 (+2) during round two, replicating his round one score to put himself in a tie for 27th at 148 (+4). Plumb sunk a birdie on the fifth hole, a 488-yard Par 4.
Freshman Niilo Maki-Petaja also had a strong showing during round two by matching Battles with a 73 (+1), improving upon his score yesterday by four strokes. Maki-Petaja birdied twice while shooting even-par on the front nine and bogeyed hole No. 14 on the back end.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot a 298 during round two and stand in seventh place with a score of 589 (+10) among a stacked field that features eight teams ranked in the top 100 in the country and three in the top 10, including No. 1 Auburn.
Sophomore Riley Hnatyshyn shot a 38 on the front with bogeys on the first and sixth holes and a 40 on the back end with a birdie on hole No. 14 and five bogeys to put him at 78 (+6) on the day.
Freshman Jake Plumb shot a 74 (+2) while fifth-year senior Lake Juban rounded out the Bulldogs team scoring by registering an 80 (+8) during round two.
Senior Will Patrick, playing as an individual, is tied for 29th after registering two birdies and six bogeys for a 76 (+4) second round.
