RUSTON – Louisiana Tech's student-athletes matched his highest ever Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 83 percent, according to the NCAA's Graduation Success Rate data released this week.
Â
For the third time in the last four years, the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters increased its GSR, including two percentage points better from last year's 81 percent. The record-high 83 percent was previously done in 2014-15.Â
Â
LA Tech student-athletes also registered a 59 percent four-year class average and a single-year February Graduation Rate of 62 percent (2016-17), which was two percent higher than the student body.
Â
"The continued dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and student-athlete success services shows the competitive excellence displayed in the classroom," said Louisiana Tech VP and Director of Athletics Dr. Eric A. Wood. "I am very proud of how our teams continue to perform at a high level academically."
Â
The GSR and federal rate calculations measure graduation in a six-year time frame from initial college enrollment. The recent numbers released are based off student-athletes who entered Louisiana Tech in 2016.
Â
Ten of LA Tech's 16 athletic programs recorded at least an 80 percent GSR led by Tennis who had a perfect 100 score for the 18th consecutive year. Softball had the next highest GSR at 94 percent while Football claimed its highest ever GSR at 84 percent. Nine programs either tied or exceeded their GSR from the previous year.
Â
The athletic department has produced a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 in nine straight terms while also having recently registered its highest ever single-year and multi-year averages for Academic Progress Rates (APR) of 987 and 981, respectively.
