The Bulldog soccer team (3-7-2, 1-2-1 SBC) makes the seven-hour drive to Alabama after a massive 3-2 victory against ULM last Sunday in the first match of the Radiance Technologies I-20 Showdown.
Madison Pensom had a career-best game, scoring a hat trick in just eight minutes. Her stats of three goals, five shots on goal, and six points are career highs for the fourth-year defender. Additionally, her six total shots match her career high from her performance against App State just a few weeks ago in September. For the hat trick performance, Pensom has named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the first Bulldog to win a weekly award since Mackenzie Lorkowski won Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season.
The win was two major firsts for the program. It was the first Sun Belt Conference win in program history, as well as the first home win for head coach Matt Lodge at Louisiana Tech.
Troy (2-8-2, 1-3-0 SBC) welcomes the Bulldogs after a 1-0 victory against Coastal Carolina. It was their first SBC win of the season. Alaina Uncapher is the Trojans leading scorer, with four goals. Two of those goals came from penalty kicks. Jake Wymann is the first-year head coach for Troy. Before coaching the Trojans, he coached a few hours north at NCAA Division-II Montevallo. His record while there was 86-38-18, where he led the Falcons to three NCAA D-II tournament appearances.
