RUSTON | The Louisiana Tech men's and women's Outdoor Track teams will open their 2023 seasons this weekend by hosting the Jim Mize Invitational on Friday, Mar. 17, and Saturday, Mar. 18, in Ruston, La.

Participating Teams: Alcorn State, Centenary, Grambling, Jackson State,
Louisiana Tech, Mississippi Valley, Mx3 Elite, Shreveport Speed Track Club, Southern, U.S. Master Express, US Javelin Express, and Vogo.
The meet will take place at the Jim Mize Track & Field Complex in Ruston, La., with Friday's field events beginning at 3 p.m., with the men's and women's hammer and discus throw, followed by the running events at 6:30 p.m., which will include the men's and women's 200m and 5000m races.
On Saturday, the field events will begin at 10 a.m. with men's and women's javelin and shot put, followed by the long jump, pole vault, high jump, and triple jump. The running events will begin at noon following a recognition ceremony for LA Tech's senior track and field athletes at 11 a.m. The women's 4x100m will kick off the running events, followed by the men's 4x100m, and conclude with the women's and men's 4x400m.
The Jim Mize Invitational began in the late 1980s and is named after long-time LA Tech track coach Jim Mize who coached track and football alongside the legendary coaches Joe Aillet and Maxie Lambright. Mize won three conference championships during his tenure in 1961, 1973, and 1974.
LA Tech will feature 47 Bulldogs and Lady Techsters combined in 30 field and running events over the two-day meet slated to competed against 11 other programs and clubs.
