RUSTON – Louisiana Tech men's and women's track and field teams host the Jim Mize Invitational at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex Friday in Ruston.

Most recently, the team competed in the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida the first week of April, dominating the women's 400m and 4x400m.
 
Osaretin Joy Usenbor, Jamara Patterson, Tyhra Charles, and Nia Wiley cruised to a first place finish in the 4x400m, besting second place by 3.33 seconds. The team clocked a 3:30.13 time, the second fastest time in outdoor program history and currently sits as the 11th fastest time in the country.
 
Patterson also finished top three in the 400m, clocking a 51.74 time and finishing third. It marks the second fastest time in outdoor program history and Patterson's second best run of the season. Patterson now owns the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th best times in Louisiana Tech women's 400m history.
 
U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's rankings were updated Tuesday afternoon, highlighting two Bulldog teams. The men's 100m team, consisting of Karo Oghomi, Madonna Favour, Abdulraof Rashid, and Carl Murray IV, are ranked 14th in the nation. The squad is first among Conference USA teams.
 
The women's 400m team, consisting of Jamara Patterson, Osaretin Joy Usenbor, Tyhra Charles, and Nia Wiley, sit at eighth in the country. Patterson is 10th place individually while the team ranks first among CUSA teams.
