LA Tech is slated to send 38 athletes, headlined by
Rodney Heath Jr. and
Johannon Murray.
Heath Jr. has ranked as one of the region and nation's best sprinters this season and has etched his name in the LA Tech record books in his first season with the Bulldogs. Heath Jr. holds three of the top four times in the 100m, including the program's top time of 10.12 from the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. His 10.12 also ranks No. 25 this season in the country and No. 13 in the Division I East Region.
The Kentucky transfer holds five of the top six times in the 60m from this year's indoor season, including tying the program record of 6.64 on two occasions, one at the Texas Tech Relays and the other at the C-USA Indoor Championships where Heath Jr. took silver in the event.
Murray enters as the reining outdoor heptathlon champion from the 2022 Conference USA championships, where she put up the fourth-best score in program history with 4,937 points. She also holds the sixth-best score in the LA Tech record books with 4,708 points from the 2021 season.
Murray will be looking to add more hardware to her 2023 season after she took bronze in the 2023 C-USA Indoor Championships in the women's pentathlon. In Murray's four seasons at LA Tech, she has registered the four best pentathlon scores in LA Tech history, including the program's No. 1 score of 3,549 points.
