Heath Jr. Finishes Top-23 in the Nation; Earns All-American Honors

AUSTIN, Texas | Rodney Heath Jr. ran a 10.33 in the national semifinal to finish 23rd overall and earn an All-American Honorable Mention Wednesday night in Austin, Texas, at the NCAA Championships.

Heath Jr. is the first LA Tech athlete to qualify for nationals since Cole Courtois did so in the pole vault in 2019 and is the first male Tech sprinter to earn All-American honors since Trey Hadnot in the 200m during the 2014 season.

The sophomore completes his first year in a Bulldog uniform with six of the top seven times in LA Tech history in the 100m, including his 9.99 from the NCAA East Regional final that qualified him for the field in Austin.

He also took bronze at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships event to pair with his Indoor Championships silver medal in the 60m. He also has four of the top-five program times in the 60m.

Heath Jr. was one of three Conference USA 100m sprinters to qualify for Austin, joining Karlington Anunagba of North Texas and Middle Tennessee's Alaba Akintola.
