The Bulldogs and Warhawks square off at The Mack at 7 p.m. Thursday night

RUSTON – After a long trip to Colorado for two road matches, the Louisiana Tech soccer team is back in Ruston for its 2023 home opener on Thursday night against ULM.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (1-1-0)
LA Tech suffered its first loss of the season this past Sunday, falling 3-0 on the road to Colorado State. The Rams registered one goal in the first half and two more in the second half to come away with the win. Goalkeeper Laerke Holst collected a season-high six saves in the match.
 
Defender Josie Studer played the full 90 minutes against CSU.  The fifth-year senior has gone the distance in nine straight matches and in 18 of her last 21.  In her career, she has played every minute in a match 44 times with a grand total of 5,327 minutes played.
 
Five Bulldogs have tallied multiple shots through the first two games, led by Lauren Egbuloniu and Sophie Fijneman who each have three (both registered goals in the season-opening win at Colorado College.
 
ABOUT ULM (1-0-1)
ULM has had two positive results so far this early 2023 season.  The Warhawks had a two-match road swing in the state of Texas where they tied Tarleton State, 1-1, and came away with a 3-1 victory against Sam Houston.
 
The Warhawks have outshot their first two opponents, 46-22, with 25 of those attempts coming on goal.  Leading the way offensively has been Inge Konst who has a team-high nine shots with two goals scored, both coming on penalty kicks.  ULM has used two goalkeepers in net, Alexa Castro and Mickaela Leal.  The duo have combined for 11 saves.   
 
Coming off a 10-6-3 season, the Warhawks were picked 11th in the 2023 Sun Belt Conference preseason coaches poll.
 
THE SERIES
LA Tech leads the all-time series with ULM, 6-1-0.  The Bulldogs have won six straight in the series and are a perfect 3-0 at home versus the Warhawks.  The last meeting came on March 21, 2021 with LA Tech prevailing at home, 2-0.
