RUSTON — The seventh-ranked Louisiana Tech bowling team will kick off the season this weekend with the SWIBC I & II tournaments in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 5-6 at Cityview Lanes.
Â
The Bulldogs are looking to build on the record-breaking 2023-24 season, which saw the team post the most wins, tournament wins, and All-Americans in a single season.
Â
Tech will have to replace three All-Americans who earned a combined eight honors during their careers. Kylee Trexler, the national Rookie of the Year, returns to lead the Bulldogs along with All-Rookie team member Abbie Leiendecker. Allyson Sand and Jenna Stretch help bring experience to the lineup, which will have four newcomers.
Â
The first event will consist of five traditional team games followed by three baker matches with total pins for the tournament to determine the winner. The second tournament will have seven traditional team games, and total pins will determine the overall winner.
Â
The Bulldogs have won both events the past two seasons, and Tech has won the SWIBC II in all three seasons in which they have participated.

Head Coach Matt Nantais
Â
"The team is really excited to get back on the lanes and compete. All of them have bowled individually during the summer and are itching to be back with their team. Â We are a young team this year, but we have a lot of experience all around. This weekend will be a good test for us to see where we're at before we start our first NCAA event. It'll also be a good time to get all the new athletes playing time as well as getting comfortable with each other on the lanes."
