ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (9-16, 3-7)
The Lady Techster's hot shooting early in the game led to a wire-to-wire win at Jacksonville State on Thursday night at the Pete Mathews Coliseum. Tech shot 57.1 percent (12-21) in the first half while holding Jax State to 29.2 percent (7-24).
The Gamecocks had no answer for Anna Larr Roberson as she dominated the paint with 17 of the Lady Techster's 28 points down low. Roberson grabbed six boards and sits one shy of 900 for her career, a feat accomplished only 12 times in Lady Techster history.
Jianna Morris put the nail in the coffin with back-to-back 3s to put Tech up 15 with just under four minutes remaining. For the season, the freshman averages 7.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists a game.
Silvia Nativi became the first Lady Techster with 10 assists since Keiunna Walker had 10 against Rice on Feb. 24, 2022. Nativi remains one of the top ball handlers in the conference, with 3.4 dimes a game and a 1.25 assists/turnover ratio.
The Lady Techsters remains at the top of CUSA in several statistical categories. Tech is No. 2 in assists to turnover (0.88), three-point defense (29.6), and assists per game (13.7), third in FG percentage (41.5), scoring defense (62.9), three-point percentage (32.5) and turnovers (15.5), and fourth in bench points (20.1) andÂ
ABOUT FIU (17-7, 8-2)
The Panthers come into the matchup as one of the hottest teams in the league. FIU has won 14 of their last 17 games and is an impressive 11-5 at home.
The Panthers have a balanced attack, with five players averaging over 8.0 a game and three in double figures.
Mya Kone leads the way with 11.5 points, ranking in the top six in CUSA with 7.6 rebounds and 1.04 blocks a game.
Another post presence has been Ajae Yoakum, who is second on the team with 10.4 points and 5.6 boards.
The catalyst for the offense has been Tanajah Hayes with 3.8 assists a game. Over the last four games, she has 16.75 points, 3.25 boards, and 2.75 steals a contest.
