ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (9-17, 3-8)
Louisiana Tech fell to Florida International 68-51 on Saturday afternoon in the Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami.
Anna Larr Roberson continues to lead the Lady Techsters with 12.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. The senior forward continues to move up in the record book. She sits at No. 22 all-time with 1,559 points and is six away from tying Lori Scott for No. 21. Roberson is one rebound shy of reaching 900 career boards.
Tech is the only school with three players in the top 12 in the league in assists. Silvia Nativi ranks fifth with 3.3 per game, while Jianna Morris is at 11th with 2.42, and Salma Bates is 12th with 2.38.
The Lady Techsters have found success with different lineups throughout the season. Twelve players have seen action in 15 or more games, with all of them averaging over nine minutes a contest. Tech had eight different leading scorers, eight leading rebounders, and nine different leaders in assists.Â
ABOUT UTEP (9-15, 4-7)
UTEP stands just one game ahead of LA Tech in the CUSA standings after falling to Middle Tennessee on Saturday. It was just the fourth loss at home for the Miners, but they are 0-7 on the road.
The Miners have a dynamic one-two punch in Jane Asinde and Erin Wilson. The duo combines for 28.3 points and 17.4 rebounds a game, 42 and 48 percent of the team's total.
After spending the past two seasons at Wichita State, Asinde joined head coach Keitha Adams in her move to El Paso. She is second in the league with 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds a game. Her 10 double-doubles are the second most in the conference and 38th in the country.
Wilson doubled her points and rebound output from last season with 12.5 points and 8.2 rebound averages. She has eight double-doubles on the year, including a 24-point and 10 rebound effort in the Miner's win over Western Kentucky.
UTEP gets to the line as well as anyone in the country. The Miners average 20 free-throw attempts a contest and make 13.5, 41st, and 76th nationally.
THE SERIES
LA Tech holds a 17-12 advantage in the all-time series, but UTEP has won the previous four meetings.
