Juban Leads Bulldogs on Day One of Linger Longer Invitational

Lake Juban tied his season low with a 70 (-2) as LA Tech sits in 12th after round one
EATONTON, Ga. – Senior Lake Juban tied his season low with a 70 (-2) at Louisiana Tech completed round one in 12th place, shooting 294 (+6) at the Linger Longer Invitational Sunday on the Great Waters Golf Course.
Juban got off to a blazing start, sinking birdies on three of his first six holes. He finished the front nine with a 34, dropping in his fourth birdie sandwiched in between a pair of bogeys on No. 7 and No. 9. The back nine consisted of nine straight pars, ending the day tied or 17th on the player leaderboard.
Senior Thomas Henson and freshman Niilo Maki-Petaja each shot 74 (+2) to count towards LA Tech's score. Henson shot 37 on both the front and back nines, rebounding from two early bogeys to register back-to-back birdies on No. 5 and No. 6.
Maki-Petaja had a tough start to his round, shooting 40 on the front. However, he was able to get two strokes back with seven pars and birdies on No. 13 and No. 18 to come home with a 34.
Fellow freshman Gray Kingrea, making his first team appearance as a Bulldog, was the fourth score used with a 76 (+4).
16th-ranked Alabama ran away from the field in round one, shooting 267 (-21) to take a nine-shot lead heading into round two.
UP NEXT
LA Tech will be paired with Augusta and Kennesaw State for round two of the Linger Longer Invitational on Monday. Battles will get the Bulldogs started at 8:15 a.m. CT on No. 10.
