AUSTIN, Texas — Maria Ferreiro Pena and Laeden Tucker were the only Louisiana Tech track and field athletes to participate in the 96th Clyde Little Field Texas Relays at the Mike A Mayers Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The women's javelin started about two hours later than initially scheduled. However, that didn't stop Ferreiro Pena from setting a new season best. On her first throw, she narrowly missed her season best with 38.66m (126'10''). She followed that up with 39.49m (129'6'') to finish 13th.
Less than an hour later, Laeden Tucker stepped up to the blocks of the 400m hurdles. Running in the fourth heat, Tucker would finish second in the heat and 13th overall with a time of 54.48.
