RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Softball team wraps up its six-game road swing by visiting McNeese on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. midweek matchup.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (12-4)
Louisiana Tech is 12-4 this season and coming off an impressive 3-2 weekend against stellar competition at the Purple and Gold Challenge in Baton Rouge. The Bulldogs defeated Illinois (4-2), San Diego State (3-0), and McNeese (8-0, 6 inn.) while falling to Illinois (2-1) and No. 4 LSU (2-0). Hammoude leads Louisiana Tech with 12 RBI this season.
Shortstop Nicole Hammoude had a fantastic weekend at the Purple and Gold Challenge. She recorded multiple hits in the Bulldogs' wins over Illinois (4-2) and San Diego State (3-1). The multi-hit performances against Illinois and San Diego State were the fourth and fifth of her career.
Through 16 games this season, the Bulldogs have outscored opponents 95-38, totaling 140 hits, 31 doubles, and six home runs.
Center fielder Alexis Gilio has been raking this season. Gilio leads LA Tech with a .480 batting average, tallying 24 hits, three doubles, eight RBI, and eight runs scored. She tied a career-high with three hits in the victory over McNeese, two of which came during the Bulldogs' seven-run sixth inning. Gilio also leads Tech with six stolen bases.
Second Baseman Caroline Easom has been elite at the plate so far this season. The senior is batting .458 with 22 hits, four doubles, 10 RBI, and five runs scored. She has only struck out once in 48 at-bats.
Sophomore outfielder Alannah Rogers has emerged as one of the Bulldogs' best hitters. The Surprise, Ariz., product is batting .387 with 12 hits, eight runs scored, six RBI, and 10 walks. She has reached base in 22 of her 31 plate appearances this season.
Third baseman Claire Raley leads the Bulldogs with three home runs. She is just one shy of her single-season high of four, which she set in 2023 at Utah State. Raley also leads Tech with three triples. First Baseman Aubree Seaney is batting .333 with 11 RBI.
In the circle, the Bulldogs hold a 1.73 team ERA and .96 WHIP with 78 strikeouts and 87 hits allowed this season while only walking 18 batters.
Allie Floyd leads LA Tech in innings pitched (49.2) and strikeouts (35) this season while owning a 0.85 ERA. She has a 5-1 record and four saves this season. Floyd continued her dominance in the circle by allowing two earned runs in 17.2 innings pitched at the Purple and Gold Challenge last weekend. She threw a six-inning complete game shutout in an 8-0 win over McNeese while picking up saves against Illinois and San Diego State. Floyd has only walked two batters this season.
Brook Melnychuk has been impressive as well. The redshirt junior holds a 1.64 ERA in 38.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters are batting .186 against her. She is 5-3 this season. Lauren Menzina has also been stellar, owning a 0.78 ERA and a 1-0 record in nine innings of action.
LA Tech is led by head coach Josh Taylor, who is 83-48 in three seasons at Tech and 316-216 in his career, with prior stops at Nevada (2017-2021) and Feather River College (2009-2012).
ABOUT MCNEESE (12-8)
The Cowgirls are 12-8 this season, coming off a 1-4 showing at the Purple and Gold Challenge. McNeese opened with a win against San Diego State (5-4) before falling to Illinois (3-0), No. 4 LSU (2-1, 2-1) and being run-ruled by Louisiana Tech (8-0, 6 inn.)
As a team, McNeese is batting .277 with 134 hits, 28 doubles, five triples, 17 home runs, 92 RBI, 65 walks and 101 runs scored this season.
Sophomore Corine Poncho is one of the best power hitters in the country this season. She is batting .320 with 16 hits, one double, eight home runs, 12 RBI, 12 walks and 18 runs scored. Junior Crislyne Moreno leads the Cowgirls with a .391 batting average and 18 hits in addition to 11 RBI and nine runs scored.
In the circle, the Cowgirls hold a 2.62 team ERA and have allowed 57 runs this season. Ryan Schexnayder is 4-1 this season with a team-best 2.21 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched. The Bulldogs handed Schexnayder her first loss on Sunday.
James Landreneau is in his eighth season as the Cowgirls head coach with a record of 258-141. He was an assistant for four seasons at McNeese before assuming the head coaching position.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bulldogs and Cowgirls will be meeting for the 90th time on Tuesday and the second time in four days. LA Tech leads the all-time series 58-31 and won the first meeting of the season 8-0 (6 inn.), courtesy of a seven-run sixth inning and a complete game shutout from Allie Floyd this past Sunday.
