ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (7-9, 0-2 CUSA)
LA Tech is finally back home, having played just three matches in the TAC this season, which were back on Sept. 11-13 in the Bulldog Bash when they went 2-1.
The Bulldogs opened CUSA play this past weekend, falling in straight sets to a hot Liberty squad in both matches. Outside hitter Gabrielle Hairston had the best performance by the Bulldogs, combining for 13 kills with a .444 hitting percentage and just one attack error. She also registered four blocks on the defensive end. She totaled nine kills in the second match, one shy of tying her season high.
With limited attack opportunities, outside hitter Jailen Hurley still tallied four kills in the first match against the Lady Flames on just six attacks. The fourth-year senior surpassed 550 total kills and currently anchors the team with 123 kills this season, having led the Bulldogs in that category five times.
The Bulldogs currently ranks third in CUSA and 36th in the country in total service aces with 96. Four Bulldogs have notched double-digit aces this season, led by Grace Luevanos who has 19.
ABOUT DELAWARE (3-8, 0-2 CUSA)
Delaware is also in search of its first conference win after the Blue Hens were swept by New Mexico State to open CUSA play. UD was up 2-1 in the first matchup against the Aggies, but NM State came back to win it 16-14 in the fifth. The second match was lost in straight sets.
Picked to finish third in the preseason poll as a first-year member, Delaware is still in search of its first victory away from home as the Blue Hens are 0-4 in road and neutral matches.
Outside hitter Anna Logan Gillens, a preseason all-conference selection, has been Delaware's key contributor offensively as she has totaled 135 kills and currently ranks fourth among CUSA players in kills per set at 3.65.
Defensively, outside hitter/middle blocker Asia Murray ranks sixth in blocks per set among CUSA players at 1.16 while libero Cadence Nguyen ranks in the top 10 among CUSA players in digs per set at 3.19 (10th).
