Bulldogs to host Blue Raiders for three-game CUSA series
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball returns to Ruston and Dr. Billy Bundrick Field for its third CUSA series of the season as the Bulldogs welcome Middle Tennessee State for a three-game series this weekend. The series opens Friday at 6:00 p.m., followed by a single game Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and another Sunday at 1:00 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 26th all-time meeting between LA Tech and MTSU. The Bulldogs lead the series 13-12 after taking two from the Blue Raiders last season. The two programs first met in 1995 with LA Tech earning a 4-0 victory over MTSU in the Frost Cutlery Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. MTSU won four straight over LA Tech in 2001, but the two schools would not meet again until the 2014 season as members of CUSA. LA Tech and MTSU have matched up against each other 20 times as CUSA members, with LA Tech holding a 12-8 advantage.
ABOUT LA TECH
The Bulldogs moved to 16-11 (4-2 CUSA) after earning a three-game road sweep over UTEP last weekend. The Bulldogs took down the Miners 4-3 on Saturday afternoon, followed by winning both ends of Sunday's double header (7-6 (9 inn), 5-2 (6 inn)). LA Tech collected 28 hits across the three games, five of which were home runs.
Alexis Gilio finished the weekend with a .545 average as she collected six hits in 11 at bats. Claire Raley, Reagan Marchant, and Karolyn Glover all recorded four base hits apiece, while Raley and Nicole Hammoude both finished with four RBI. Raley finished the trip with two home runs, while Glover, Hammoude, and Marchant all hit one home run each.
Allie Floyd won all three games in the circle for the Bulldogs and moved to a league best 12-5 on the season. Floyd pitched a 7.0 inning complete game on Friday night in the 4-3 win as she allowed three runs (two earned) while striking out seven. Floyd picked up two wins in relief on Sunday, as she pitched 5.0 innings in each game. She only allowed one run on Sunday, while allowing five hits in both games. She struck out three in the first game and seven in the series finale.
The right-hander has struck out 104 batters this season in 102.0 innings of work while she carries a 12-5 mark in the circle. She has a 2.88 ERA and has allowed 51 runs (42 earned) on 100 hits, while walking just 21. Floyd ranks fourth in the NCAA in innings pitched, 16th in complete games with nine, 16th in strikeouts, and seventh in wins. She leads CUSA in wins, and strikeouts. Floyd is the first LA Tech pitcher to register 100+ strikeouts in a season since Audrey Pickett fanned 109 in 2022.
Elena Heng (34) and Claire Raley (33) are the only two Bulldogs to have 30+ hits this season. Raley leads the team with a .398 batting average, while Heng is right behind her with a .391. Raley also leads the team with 26 RBI, while her six home runs are tied for the team lead with Marchant. Hammoude is second on the team with 24 RBI and five home runs.
ABOUT MTSU
The Blue Raiders come into the weekend at 13-16 (3-3 CUSA). MTSU took on in-state foe UT Martin and defeated the Skyhawks 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon. MTSU won its CUSA series 2-1 over Sam Houston last weekend, while dropping its first CUSA series of the season 1-2 against FIU.
Offensively, MTSU is led by freshman infielder Jana Want, as the true freshman leads the team in batting average (.395), hits (34), and RBI (23). The freshman also has five home runs on the season, which is second behind Ansley Blevins, who has 8 home runs on the season to pair with 19 RBI. Want is the only Blue Raider that is batting above .300. Addy Edgmon ranks second on the team with 25 base knocks, while Lexi Medlock has 22.
The Blue Raiders have two pitchers with 50+ innings in the circle as Leila Ammon leads the group with 65.2 innings. Ammon holds a 3-5 record and has a team best 2.45 ERA, while leading the team with 40 strikeouts. Tori Coffman (6-4) leads the team with six wins and carries a 3.50 ERA through 58.2 innings.
