Bulldogs to Open CUSA Play Against NMSU
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball is set for Conference USA action as the Bulldogs welcome New Mexico State to Dr. Billy Bundrick Field for a three-game conference series this weekend. The series opener is slated for Friday night with a 5:00 p.m. first pitch. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 35th, 36th, and 37th meetings between the Aggies and Bulldogs, and just the second CUSA series matchup between the two programs. NMSU leads the all-time series 19-15, however the Bulldogs took last year's series 2-1. LA Tech won game one 11-7, and game two 5-4 before falling 6-0 in the series finale. Allie Floyd went 1-1 in the series with a complete game win in the Bulldogs' 11-7 victory. Claire Raley and Nicole Hammoude both had two hits apiece, while Raley drove in three RBI and scored two runs. Alexis Gilio recorded three hits, two runs and one RBI in the 5-4 win.
ABOUT LA TECH
The Bulldogs moved to 11-9 after blanking Stephen F. Austin 4-0 for their first shutout win of the season. The victory also moves LA Tech to 4-2 within the confines of Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.
Claire Raley registered her seventh multi-hit game of the season and her sixth multi-RBI game after going 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run in the win over SFA. Raley hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning for her fourth long ball of the season. Raley shares the team lead in hits with Elena Heng as they both have 25. The senior third baseman is the only Bulldog with 20+ RBI (20), while also leading the team in runs (19) and batting average (.403). She is one of six players in the CUSA with a .400 BA or higher.
Alannah Rogers added two hits and two runs to her season stat line against the Lumberjacks. The junior right fielder is second on the team with 17 runs and is tied for second with seven multi-hit performances.
Nicole Hammoude became the third Bulldog to reach 20 hits this season after hitting her team-leading fifth double of the season against SFA. Hammoude is third on the team in with 13 RB and three home runs.
Heng added one hit and one RBI to reach 25 hits on the season, which leads all CUSA freshman. Her eight multi-hit games lead the team, while Heng's 16 runs is third best. She leads the team with seven stolen bases in eight attempts.
Mattison Buster notched up her second win in relief against the Lumberjacks after pitching four scoreless innings. The sophomore right-hander allowed four hits, one walk and struck out three to earn the win. Buster moves to 2-2 on the season and ranks second in wins (2), strikeouts (13), and ERA (3.71) among the Bulldog pitching staff.
Laney Johnson earned the start against SFA and tossed 2.0 scoreless frames while allowing three hits. Johnson is 1-0 this season and has logged 13.1 innings in five appearances, four of which have been starts. The Stonewall native has allowed nine runs (eight earned), and registered six strikeouts to three walks.
Allie Floyd leads the team with seven wins in the circle, and has a team high 69 strikeouts, while leading the team in innings pitched (68.2), appearances (12), starts (10), and ERA (3.26). Floyd is the only pitcher in the CUSA with 50+ strikeouts, with the next closest being 45. Her seven wins is also a league high.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE
The Aggies enter this weekend's series 12-10 overall. NMSU is batting .325 on the season as a team and are tied for the CUSA lead with 200 hits. They have hit a league-leading 27 home runs and 122 RBI.
The Aggies have three players with 25+ hits in Faith Aragon (25), Desirae Spearman (28), and Kristiana Watson (29). Spearman leads the team with 29 RBI, 25 runs, and 10 home runs. Watson has recorded 27 RBI and is tied for second with four home runs.
Spearman is the team's top arm in the circle as she leads the Aggies with a 6-2 record. The sophomore has pitched 44.1 innings and carries a 2.84 ERA with 44 strikeouts, and 30 walks. Aragon is second on the team with 40.2 innings in the circle and three wins. She has 16 strikeouts and 10 walks.
