RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball will continue its eight-game road trip as the Bulldogs travel to Miami to face Florida International in a three game Conference USA series this weekend. The Bulldogs and the Panthers will square off on Friday night at 5:00 p.m. CT, followed by a 5:00 p.m. CT meeting on Saturday and at noon CT on Sunday. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY VS. FIU
This will be the 23rd all-time meeting between LA Tech and FIU. The two schools first met in 2001 as they played five games that season, with FIU taking all five. The two schools would not meet again until 2017 as they played a three-game series as CUSA members. FIU won all three to take make it eight straight wins, until the Bulldogs picked up a 1-0 win in against the Panthers in the CUSA tournament.
FIU was able to take two games from LA Tech at home during last season's series. The Panthers won Friday night's opener 3-2, before LA Tech was able to bounce back and take the first game of the double header 5-1. Alexis Gilio finished with two hits and four RBI in the win.
ABOUT LA TECH
The Bulldogs moved to 24-16 on the season after going 1-1 in their two mid-week games this week. LA Tech earned revenge against UL-Lafayette on Tuesday night as the Bulldogs secured a 2-1 victory of the Rajin' Cajuns at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field. LA Tech turned around 24 hours later and traveled to Baton Rouge to take on No. 5 LSU but fell 9-1 in six innings.
Claire Raley became the third Bulldog to reach the 40+ hit club this season after recording two base knocks in LA Tech's win over ULL on Tuesday. Raley and Nicole Hammoude are tied for second on the team with 41 hits apiece, while Elena Heng leads the team with 47. Heng leads the team with 33 runs scored, while Raley sits one spot behind her with 32 runs accounted for.
Alexis Gilio (37), Reagan Marchant (34), and Alannah Rogers (30) have all recorded 30+ hits this season.
Hammoude leads the team with 32 RBI, followed by Marchant (29), and Raley (28). Hammoude also leads the team with a .376 batting average, followed by Heng (.358), and Raley (.336).
Laney Johnson picked up her fourth win of the season in the circle after a solid start against ULL. The freshman from Stonewall tossed 5.0 innings and allowed only one hit and one run. Johnson is 4-2 on the season and has pitched 47.1 innings. She carries 3.70 ERA and has struck out 14.
Allie Floyd earned the save against ULL after holding the Cajuns scoreless through two innings. It marked the first save of the year for Floyd and the 10th of her career. Floyd moved to 17-8 on the season after taking the loss at LSU. The right-hander leads the club and CUSA with 17 wins, 142 strikeouts and 145.0 innings.
Alyssa Martin ranks third on the team 31.0 innings under her belt, while Mattison Buster is fourth with 28.1. Buster is 2-2 this season while Martin is 1-1.
ABOUT FIU
The Panthers enter this weekend's series with a 27-13 (9-6 CUSA) mark. FIU last played last weekend as they dropped their series 1-2 to Sam Houston in Huntsville, Texas. The Panters and Bulldogs were tied for second in the league before the Panthers dropped two games to the Bearkats.
FIU has seen success at home this season as they carry an 18-5 record when playing at Felsberg Field. The Panthers are batting .296 as a team and have outhit their opponents 332-318. Kally Meredith leads the team with 52 hits, followed by Paige Miller who has 41. Miller's .398 batting average leads FIU, while Merdeith's .366 ranks second.
The Panthers have two players with 20+ RBI in Kennedy Byrd (24) and Janelle Martinez (20). Meredith leads the team with 33 runs, followed by Bailey Grossenbacher who has scored 27 times.
