Bulldogs Set for Regular Season Series Finale
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball closes out its regular season with a three-game Conference USA series on the road in Huntsville, Texas, against Sam Houston. The series will get underway on Friday at noon, followed by a 3:00 p.m. matchup on Saturday, and a 12:30 p.m. meeting on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday's games will be streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY VS. SAM HOUSTON
This will be the 34th, 35th, and 36th meetings all-time between LA Tech and SHSU. The two schools met last season as CUSA members for the first time, with LA Tech earning a 3-0 sweep at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field. The Bulldogs took game one 7-5, game two 5-1, followed by a 2-1 win in the finale. The two schools first met in 1980, with the Bulldogs winning eight of the first 10 meetings.
ABOUT LA TECH
The Bulldogs moved to 29-21 (14-10 CUSA) after dropping all three of their games to Liberty in their home series finale last weekend. The Bulldogs held a lead in all three games before errors and timely Flame hitting propelled them to three consecutive wins. LA Tech sits at third place in CUSA standings while SHSU is 12-12 in league play and enters the weekend in sixth.
Reagan Marchant added two home runs to her season stat line against the Flames and now has 16 on the season. The redshirt sophomore needs one home run to tie LA Tech's all-time single season home run record and two to break it. Marchant is batting .331 with 46 hits, 47 RBI, 28 runs, 16 home runs, 10 doubles and one triple.
Nicole Hammoude, Alexis Gilio, and Elena Heng share the team lead in hits with 52. Hammoude leads the team with a .371 batting average, followed by Marchant, and Gilio (.317). Hammoude ranks second on the team with 42 RBI, while she leads the team in doubles (11), and walks (27).
Heng leads the team with 37 runs and 14 stolen bases. Claire Raley ranks second on the team with 36 runs to pair with 47 hits, 32 RBI and six home runs. Gilio is ranked second on the team with 12 steals and ranks third with 31 runs.
Allie Floyd moved to 20-11 in the circle after taking two losses against the flames. The junior right-hander still paces the league in multiple categories such as wins (20), strikeouts (171), innings pitched (185.0), and complete games (16). She carries a 2.72 ERA and has tossed three shutouts. Floyd remains as the only player in CUSA with 135+ strikeouts as we enter the final week of play.
Laney Johnson took the loss in the circle on Saturday and moves to 5-4 on the season. The true freshman is second on the squad in wins (5), innings pitched (64.1), complete games (3), and shutouts (2). Her 20 strikeouts are tied for second most on the team.
ABOUT SAM HOUSTON
The Bearkats enter this weekend's series with a 25-26 (12-12 CUSA) record. SHSU was sweptt by Jax State on the road last weekend. The Gamecocks outscored the Bearkats 9-4 in the series.
SHSU is batting .255 as a team and they have two players with a .300+ average. Jenny Robison leads the team with 47 hits a .364 average. Brodie Quinlan is second on the team with a .304, as her 41 base knocks ranks third on the team. Bella Perez is second on the team with 44 hits, while Elia Hebel's 40 hits rank fourth. Bella is the only Bearkat with 30= RBI (31), and 30+ runs (32).
Robison ranks second on the team with 26 RBI, followed by Quinlan (24), and Hebel (23) . Bella leads the team with 11 home runs, followed by Robison, Quinlan, and Hebel who all have six.
SHSU's pitching staff carries a 4.82 ERA as opponents are batting .268 against them. Kendall Daniel leads the team with a 7-8 record in the circle, followed by Amy Abke and Abigail Young who both have six wins this season.
Young leads the team with a 1.70 ERA in 94.2 innings of work. She has allowed 31 runs (23 earned) to go along with 51 strikeouts and 30 walks. Daniel leads the team with 83.2 innings pitched, followed by Abke who has tossed 65.1 Abke leads the staff with 71 strikeouts.
