EATONTON, Ga. – Seth Campbell shot one under 71 as Louisiana Tech concluded round one Friday at the 20th annual Linger Longer Invitational.
 
Campbell was the lone Bulldog to finish under par after 18 holes at Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee, ending the day tied for 35th on the player leaderboard among a stacked field of 108 golfers.
 
As a team, LA Tech shot 294 (+6), putting them in 15th among 18 teams.  The Bulldogs had more success on the back nine, shooting one over with 11 total birdies.  However, too many big numbers on the front nine, particularly on holes four and nine, slid the team down the leaderboard.
 
Campbell avoided trouble throughout the day.  The key for the graduate senior was the turn where he made birdie on No. 18 and No. 1.  He then closed out the front by making eight straight pars to finish under par.
 
Oskari Schuvalow head a similar round, tallying three straight birdies around the turn to put the junior at two under through 13 holes.  However, a hiccup on No. 5 resulted in a 73 (+1).
 
Riley Hnatyshyn, coming off a 5th-place finish at last week's event down in Lafayette, provided the third scorecard for LA Tech by shooting two over (74).  The final score used came from Morton Bailey who shot four over (76).
 
Georgia, ranked 35th in the nation, sprinted out to a lead and holds a 10-stroke advantage going into round two.
