Bulldogs Battle Through Challenging Day at Maridoe Intercollegiate

LA Tech is tied for 11th after 36 holes

CARROLLTON, Texas – A demanding test at Maridoe Golf Club combined with windy conditions made for a difficult day as Louisiana Tech completed 36 holes Monday at the Maridoe Intercollegiate.

The Bulldogs sit tied for 11th at 42-over par through two rounds but showed improvement in the afternoon, posting a 16-over second round that ranked sixth-best in the field. Only seventh-ranked Oklahoma State managed to break par the entire day, with the Cowboys entering the final round at even par and holding a seven-shot lead.

Morton Bailey turned in LA Tech's top performance, carding an even-par 72 in round two. The sophomore was bogey-free on the front nine, going 2-under during the stretch, and responded well after an opening-round 80. He is currently tied for 29th individually, and his 72 marked one of just 22 rounds at or under par among the 150 rounds played Monday. It also tied for the fifth-lowest score of the second round.

Oskari Schuvalow added a strong bounce-back effort of his own, firing a 2-over 74 after a challenging first round. The junior's round was highlighted by consecutive birdies on holes No. 18 and No. 1.

Seth Campbell led the Bulldogs in round one with a 3-over 75, highlighted by a stretch of four birdies across nine holes. He is tied for 50th alongside teammate Abel Derksen, who posted rounds of 79 and 78.

Riley Hnatyshyn recorded steady rounds of 78-78, while Isaac Adams, competing as an individual, shot 79 and 83.
