RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball begins a five-game road trip Tuesday as the Bulldogs travel to Northwestern State for a 6 p.m. game in Natchitoches. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

This will be the 120
th all-time meeting between LA Tech and NSU. The Bulldogs lead the series 66-53 and have won three straight, including a 12-3 (5) victory in Ruston on Feb. 17. The Bulldogs outhit the Lady Demons 9-5 in the win as
Reese Torres led the way with a double, a home run and four RBI.
Laney Johnson earned the win in the circle.
ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
The Bulldogs improved to 19-16 (5-7 Conference USA) after earning the series win at home against Missouri State this past weekend. LA Tech won the opener on Friday 9-5 before shutting out the Bears 2-0 on Saturday. The Bulldogs dropped the series finale 3-0 on Sunday.
Allie Furr led the team with four hits in 10 at bats this weekend. The Ruston native finished 2-for-3 on Saturday while collecting one hit on Friday night and one on Sunday. Furr ranks second on the team with 37 hits.
Jina Baffuto drove in three runs against MSU with all three runs coming on a three-run home run in the first inning of Friday night's victory. Baffuto's three-run shot capped off a seven-run first inning for the Bulldogs.
Elena Heng continues to pace the Bulldogs in hits this season with 43. Furr follows with 37, while
Bradi Gallaway and
Aleah Brooks have 32 apiece. Gallaway leads the Bulldogs with 23 runs scored while Heng and
Reagan Marchant have scored 20 times.
Marchant leads the team with nine home runs and 29 RBI. Gallaway ranks second in both categories with seven homers and 28 RBI.
Allie Floyd (8-9) and
Laney Johnson (5-2) both recorded wins in the circle over the weekend. Floyd earned the win Friday night, allowing three runs on five hits over four innings, while
Ruby Fidge pitched the final three innings to earn the save.
Johnson tossed a seven-inning, three-hit shutout in Saturday's 2-0 victory, striking out two and walking two.
Floyd leads the team with a 2.67 ERA, 99.2 innings pitched and 82 strikeouts. The senior ranks fourth in CUSA in ERA, third in innings pitched and second in strikeouts.
Johnson is second on the team with five wins and 57.2 innings pitched.
Bryannah Campos pitched three scoreless innings on Sunday in relief and retired all nine batters she faced. The freshman has a 4.36 ERA with four wins and has struck out 25 batters over 43.1 innings.
ABOUT NORTHWESTERN STATE
Northwestern State enters Tuesday night's matchup with a 17-18 (7-5 Southland) record. The Lady Demons swept East Texas A&M this past weekend while outscoring the Lions 39-11 (12-7, 12-2, 15-2).
NSU is batting .284 as a team and has outscored opponents 187-161 while outhitting them 246-238. Brynn Daniel leads the team with 32 hits followed by JT Smith and Makynlie Jones who have 30 hits apiece.
Smith leads the group with 25 RBI, followed by Daniel (21) and Jones (20). The Lady Demons have only hit 12 home runs this season with five different players having two apiece.
Mattison Buster is the staff ace and leads the team with a 14-8 record across a team-high 121.1 innings. Buster has registered 73 strikeouts to 34 walks. She has allowed 62 runs (53 earned) on 108 hits.
The Lady Demons hold a 4.45 staff ERA. Brooklynn Stohler has two wins in the circle while Grace Birk has one.
