Bulldogs Wrap Up Grueling Test at Maridoe Intercollegiate

LA Tech placed 12th as a team, Morton Bailey tied for 25th as top Bulldog

CARROLLTON, Texas – Another punishing day at Maridoe Golf Club saw Louisiana Tech close out the Maridoe Intercollegiate on Tuesday, finishing 12th after a 23-over round three.

The challenging course once again proved unforgiving across the field, with the lowest team score of the day coming in at 11-over par as conditions continued to test all 13 teams.

Morton Bailey led the way for the Bulldogs, capping his final round with a birdie on the par-3 No. 11 to finish with a 5-over 77.  The sophomore had a sluggish start, shooting five over through his first five holes.  However, he found his groove after that, shooting Even par the rest of the way to tie for 25th on the individual leaderboard.

Oskari Schuvalow matched Bailey's final-round score, beginning and ending with birdies to card a 77 to finish tied for 50th.  Abel Derksen also tied for 50th, highlighted by birdies on No. 6 and No. 8 in route to a 6-over 78.

Seth Campbell rounded out the Bulldogs' counting scores in the final round, posting a 7-over 79 to tie for 54th.

Defending national champion Oklahoma State, ranked seventh in the country, led from start to finish as the Cowboys took home the team title at 11 over, 18 strokes better than second place Arizona State.

QUOTABLES
Head coach Matt Terry

"Maridoe was a grueling test from start to finish.  I thought our guys battled and put together some really good stretches of golf, but this course will expose you if you are not sharp in every area.  As we head into our final regular season event, it is important for us to get back to the basics and clean up a few things."

UP NEXT
LA Tech will play its final event of the regular season April 13-14 when the Bulldogs travel to West Point, Mississippi to participate in the Mossy Oak Collegiate.
