LA Tech is tied for 13th after two rounds

LAFAYETTE, La. – Riley Hnatyshyn and Oskari Schuvalow finished day one in the top 25 as Louisiana Tech completed two rounds Monday at the 41st annual Louisiana Classics.

As a team, LA Tech shot 289 (+1) in the first round and 288 (E) in the second round, putting the Bulldogs in a three-way tie for 13th at the end of 36 holes at Oakbourne Country Club.

Hnatyshyn put in a spectacular performance in round one, shooting a career-low 67.  The senior had just one hiccup – bogey on No. 4.  That came in between a pair of back-to-back birdies, coupled with a 34 on the back nine to shoot five under.

Schuvalow had the second lowest round for the 'Dogs through the first 18 holes, shooting one over (73).  Abel Derksen and Morton Bailey provided the other two scorecards for LA Tech, shooting two over (74) and three over (75), respectively.

Hnatyshyn followed up his career round by shooting Even par 72, putting the Bulldog in a tie for 14th on the player leaderboard.  Meanwhile, Schuvalow had the hot hand in the second round, producing five birdies to help shoot three under (69) and climb the leaderboard into a tie for 25th.

Derksen and Bailey again provided the other two scores for LA Tech, shooting one over (73) and two over (74), respectively.

Competing as an individual was Alejandro Sanchez who shot back-to-back 74s.

Texas A&M, ranked 29th in the country, has an eight-shot lead going into the third round.
