Series History: LA Tech leads 2-1
Following their inaugural meeting in Ruston during the 2025 season, this weekend's series marks the first time ever the Bulldogs and Owls take the field together on Kennesaw State's home diamond.
The Bulldogs have their longest winning streak since 2024, and their 7-1 start in April is the best start to the month since 2021. In the past eight games, the Bulldogs are batting .283 as a team and average 6.38 runs per game during that stretch. 19 extra-base hits have been recorded with 14 doubles, a triple and four homers.
LA Tech's pitching staff holds an impressive 2.38 ERA this month with a stellar 2.32 K/BB ratio. In
Declan Dahl's last two starts, he is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA. He has allowed just two earned runs across 13 innings while punching out 16 opposing hitters. He's allowed eight hits, two walks and held opponents to a .170 average.
The 'Dogs won the weekend the last time they played the Owls after dropping the series opener. After falling 6-1 in Game 1, Tech outscored Kennesaw State 16-5 in the final two games of the series.
KSU is coming off a midweek win at home over in-state opponent Mercer on Tuesday to snap a four-game losing streak. After concluding a series sweep over Delaware on the road, the Owls have won just two of their last nine contests.
The Bears run ruled KSU in Macon, Georgia on March 31, 14-4 in seven innings, before dropping the first two games to Dallas Baptist to begin the month of April. The Owls salvaged the series finale with a 5-4 win over the Patriots on April 4, with all five runs being scored in the seventh after entering the frame trailing 4-0.
Cooper Williams and Jackson Chirello have been two of the top producers for KSU's offense thus far. Both hitters are the lone Owls batting over .300 this season, with Williams holding a team-high .339 and Chirello batting .318. Chirello leads the team with 27 RBI and Williams tied for the second-most with 24.
Chirello leads KSU with seven long balls and Williams is tied with James McGee for the second-most with five. McGee is also tied with Williams with 24 RBI. Williams has also made an impact on the basepath, stealing 15 bases on 19 attempts. Chris Cole has 10 swipes on 13 attempts and Trenton Lyons has nine on 12 tries.
Cooper McMullen and Nolan Silver are the two projected starters for the Owls this weekend. McMullen, who is expected to make the series-opening start, holds a 2-2 record with a 4.14 ERA through nine starts. He has struck out 22 while walking 20, and allowed 19 earned runs on 41 hits through 41.1 innings.
Silver has not earned a decision through seven starts and 10 total appearances. He holds a 4.84 ERA with 32 punchouts through 35.1 innings while allowing 19 earned runs on 47 hits and 15 walks.
Daniel Powell has been one of KSU's most consistent uses out of the bullpen, leading the Owls with 16 appearances in relief. He boasts a 2.75 ERA with a 5-2 record to lead KSU in wins and his four saves are tied for the most on the team. Powell has fanned 41 opponents while walking 17, allowing 11 earned runs on 24 hits through 36 innings of work.
