Kaitlyn Sawyer’s time in Friday’s race put her in the program’s all-time top 10 list in the women’s 5k.
RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech cross country competed at the Warhawk Invitational on Friday, with the women's team finishing second and the men's team placing third in their 5k races.
The women were led by freshman Kaitlyn Sawyer, who placed third overall in a field of 61 runners with a time of 19:12.50. She recorded the ninth-fastest 5k time in Louisiana Tech women's cross country program history after previously running the fifth-fastest 4k time at the NSU Demon Invitational on September 11.
Bailey Springer (sixth) and Delaney Lopez (eighth) rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Bulldogs, followed with Reece Knowlton (11th), Brooke Fontenot (12th) and Ersalee Unangst (15th) rounding out the top 15.
The men were led by Brayden Vining, who placed eighth in the event. Joshua Dalton followed in 14th followed by Kaleb Weber with a 15th place finish.
Vining, along with Arie Linton and Cameren Williams, set new personal bests in Friday's race.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, October 3, at the Belhaven Invitational in Clinton, Mississippi for their penultimate meet of the 2026 regular season.
