Box Score 2 RUSTON - For the second day in a row, the Louisiana Tech softball team swept a double-header against Western Kentucky in Sun Belt Conference action, winning 3-2 and 2-0 at the Louisiana Tech Softball Complex Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Techsters (20-25, 4-12 SBC) picked up their highest run total since a 5-2 win over Belmont on April 5th in game one against the Hilltoppers (20-32, 1-15 SBC).
Tech jumped on the board early scoring a run in the first inning on an RBI fielder?s choice by Jen LaRussa.
WKU tied up the game in the second inning when Shanon Searle?s RBI double scored Veronica Giddens, who reached base on a single.
Louisiana Tech took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. Pinch runner Sarah Thibodeaux scored on an RBI single by Bonnie Wilson. Wilson scored later in the inning on an error by Western Kentucky.l
The Hilltoppers pulled within one run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Riley Garcia but could not move the tying run across the plate.
LaRussa led the Lady Techsters offensively, going 2-for-3 with one RBI while Missy Ladd went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Cassie Palmer and Melissa Gomes each recorded two hits for the Hilltoppers.
Marla Pinkston (5-8) collected the win for Tech, giving up two runs on 10 hits while striking out three in seven innings of work.
Giddens (10-11) took the loss for WKU, pitching six innings and giving up three runs on six hits while striking out six batters.
In game two, Louisiana Tech?s Lindsey Meadows (10-9) pitched a complete-game shutout, holding the Hilltoppers to only three hits in seven innings while striking out five.

Allison Silver (8-13) took the loss for Western Kentucky, giving up two runs on six hits in six innings of work.
The Lady Techsters return to action next weekend when they travel to New Mexico State for a four-game series beginning on May 5.
