RUSTON - Louisiana Tech senior Ahville Black was named the Sun Belt Conference Field Performer of the Week following his performances in the Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe outdoor track and field meets last weekend.

Black captured first place in the discus competition in consecutive days at both events, recording a toss of 181-feet, 1 inch at the NSU meet Friday and a mark of 177-feet, 11 inches at the ULM meet Saturday.

The St. James, Jamaica, native leads the SBC this season with a toss of 189-feet, 8-inches earlier this year. Black's honor marks the second time this season he has won the award.
