RUSTON - Junior Halli Heimisson shot an opening day total of 150 Monday to lead Louisiana Tech at the Arkansas State Indian Classic held at Ridge Point Country Club in Jonesboro.

Heimisson shot 76 and 74 during the first 36 holes of the tournament and currently sits in a tie for 43rd place at the 19-team event.

Freshman Derek Busby shot 72-81 and is alone in 63rd place while Logan Reister (72-83=155, t70th), Chase Hemperley (85-79=164, t90th) and Chad Carter (79-86=165, t93rd) also competed for the Bulldogs.

North Texas and Arkansas-Little Rock lead the tournament with a first day total of 575 while Louisville (584), Nebraska (585) and Rice (588) round out the top five. Tech is in 19th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
