LAFAYETTE, La. - A two-run fourth inning ignited Northwestern State to a 2-1 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday evening in the first game of the 18th Annual Louisiana Classic hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Lady Techsters (4-3) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a one-out home run by catcher Ashley Aycock to left center field.

Northwestern State (2-4) scored its first run in the fourth inning on a solo home run by first baseman Kiana Scott to right field. Shortstop Shay Hunt followed with a double and scored one out later on an RBI single by catcher Krystle Nicholas.

Tech's only other scoring opportunity of the game came in the bottom of the fourth when designated hitter Ashley Cameron doubled to left field with one out. However, the Lady Techsters could not plate her and Tech's threat was ended.

Tech senior Marla Pinkston picked up the loss, pitching seven innings allowing seven hits, four walks and the two earned runs while striking out four. Northwestern State hurler Aimee Ford (2-0) earned the win, allowing only the two hits and zero walks while striking out nine in the complete game effort.
