RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech pounded out 17 hits Wednesday afternoon in a 12-5 win over Alcorn State in non-conference action at J.C. Love Field.

Adam Cobb led the Bulldog hit parade with three hits, three runs scored and one RBI while Jericho Jones (2 hits, 3 RBI), Brandon Hudson (2 hits, 2 RBI), Ryan Hamilton (2 hits, 2 RBI), and Brian Rike (2 hits, 2 runs) each contributed as the Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak.

?Overall, I liked seeing 12 runs, 17 hits, no errors and a couple of good pitching performances,? said Tech head coach Wade Simoneaux. ?That?s just what the doctor ordered.?

Tech (29-22) scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run double by Hamilton to centerfield.

After Alcorn State scored one run in the top of the second, the Bulldogs exploded for five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning with all five runs scoring with two outs.

Mims Boyce made the score 4-1 with a two-run single to centerfield followed by an RBI infield single by Cobb. Jones then followed with a two-run double to left center field making the score 7-1.

After a 29-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fifth inning, Tech plated three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 10-1. Jones plated one run with an RBI double while Hudson added an RBI groundout. The final run of the inning was scored compliment of an Alcorn State error.

Tech added single runs in the seventh ? RBI groundout by Patrick Thomas ? and eighth ? solo home run by Hudson ? while the Braves (22-19) scored three times in the seventh and once in the eighth.

Aaron Lorio (1-1) picked up the win for Tech, allowing only one hit and one unearned run in four innings of action.

"We still have a positive outlook," Lorio said. "Things were going our way for so long and then it turned on us. Sooner or later we knew things will start working for us."

Andrew Lassere came on in relief of Lorio in the fifth inning and gave up three runs on four hits in 2.2 innings of action.

Andrew Alsup and Hudson pitched the final 2.1 innings for the Bulldogs, surrendering only three hits and one run.

The Bulldogs finish their Western Athletic Conference schedule this weekend against New Mexico State with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a 1 p.m. single game Sunday.
