HOUSTON ? Louisiana Tech opens in spring golf season this weekend when the Bulldogs compete at the Rice Intercollegiate at the Westwood Golf Club.

Head coach Jean Hall?s team will be one of 14 teams competing in the tournament, along with Belmont, Cal Poly, College of Charleston, William & Mary, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Houston, Pacific, Richmond, Texas-Pan American and Wyoming.

?We want to see improvement every time we play,? Hall said. ?Our goal is to play as well as we can at the WAC Championships in May. We?ve gotten a late start because of the weather but everyone else is probably in the same situation. We finished strong last fall, and we want to continue to get better.?

Louisiana Tech?s five golfers competing at this weekend?s tournament are Matthew Harvey, Trey McNeill, Chad Bailey, Amrith de Soysa and Corey Bartlett.
