BATON ROUGE, La. ? Rochelle Sandberg went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in to lead Louisiana Tech to an 8-6 win over Troy Saturday at the Easton Purple and Gold Challenge hosted by LSU.

Tech head coach Sarah Dawson said she was proud of her team?s ability to bounce back after the Techsters blew an 8-3 lead Saturday morning in a 24-11 loss to Southern Mississippi.

?I was proud we rebounded after this morning,? Dawson said. ?We put that game behind us. Krissi (Oliver) did a nice job in relief (in the Troy game).?

In the win over Troy, Tech (10-7) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings as Sandberg drove home four runs with a two-run home run in the first inning and a two-run single in the second inning.

Tech starter Mandi Bertsch struggled with her control, walking five straight batters to lead off the bottom of the second, forcing Dawson to bring Oliver in in relief.

Oliver (6-5) picked up the win, allowing three earned run on 11 hits and one walk in six innings of work.

After Troy (8-2) cut the Tech lead to 6-3, the Lady Techsters added two runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Summer Young and Kylie Basset.

Troy scored one in the fourth and two in the sixth to cut the Tech lead to 8-6 but Oliver retired the side in the seventh for the victory.

Young and Bassett each registered two hits in the win.

In the first game of the day, Tech jumped out to an 8-3 lead through five innings of play before Southern Mississippi scored four runs in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 8-7.

Southern Miss then exploded for 17 runs in the top of the seventh inning ? all earned ? to down Tech 24-11.

Sandberg had three hits and three RBI ? including a two-run home run ? in the loss while Emma Barnes added two hits and two RBI.
