Boxscore I Boxscore II

HAMMOND, La. ? Regan Clark?s leadoff home run in the top of the seventh inning forced extra frames and Louisiana Tech eventually downed Southeastern Louisiana 7-6 to split a doubleheader at North Oak Park Tuesday evening.

Tech fell 2-1 in game No. 1 of the day against the Lady Lions.

With Tech trailing 5-4 heading into the seventh, Clark launched the third pitch of the frame over the left field wall, tying the game up and forcing extra innings.

In the top of the eighth inning using the international tiebreaker rule, Danielle Sheridan?s sacrifice fly to left field scored Christine Echols from third giving Tech a 6-5 lead. Emma Barnes followed with a walk and stole second base before Amberly Waits drove her home with a triple off the right field fence, upping Tech?s advantage to 7-5.

Southeastern Louisiana had a chance to tie the game up in the bottom of the eighth inning but Waits snared a two-out line drive with a runner on third to end the game.

Krissi Oliver (9-9) picked up the win in relief, allowing only one unearned run on seven hits in six innings of action.

Waits, Clark and Ashley Cameron each registered two hits in the game with Cameron smashing her sixth home run of the season ? a two-run shot ? in the third.

Tech wasted a good pitching performance from Oliver in game No. 1 of the day.

Oliver (8-9) allowed only two runs ? one earned ? on six hits and one walk while striking out four in the complete game performance.

Southeastern Louisiana took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring an unearned run. Amber Gentry registered a one-out infield single and then advanced to second on a throwing error by Sheridan on the second out of the frame.

Gentry then scored on a two-out single by Carolann Wenisch sliding under the tag of Clark on a play at the plate.

Lady Lion pitcher Rachel Ray cruised until the top of the fifth inning when Cameron launched her fifth home run of the season over the left field wall to tie the game at 1-1.

Southeastern scored the go-ahead run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Allyson McCubbins, scoring Arica Rodriguez.

Ray (8-4) retired Tech in order in the top of the seventh to pick up the win.

Tech returns to action Thursday with a doubleheader at North Texas.
