Tech Softball Falls at #16 Baylor

WACO, Texas ? The 16th ranked Baylor Bears completed a three-game sweep over Louisiana Tech with a 4-1 victory in softball action Sunday afternoon.

Tech (13-11) had numerous opportunities to pull the upset at Getterman Stadium but left seven runners on base, including leaving two runners in scoring position in the tops of the first, second and sixth innings.

After Tech left runners on second and third in the top of the first inning, Baylor (20-4) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning despite registering only one base hit in the frame.

Tech had another opportunity in the top of the second inning but left the bases loaded without plating a run.

Baylor upped its advantage to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tech finally plated its first run of the three-game series on a Kylie Bassett solo home run to centerfield in the top of the sixth inning. The Lady Techsters had runners on second and third with one out in the sixth, but were unable to drive them home.

Krissi Oliver (8-7) picked up the loss, allowing four runs ? two earned ? on six hits and three walks in 6.0 innings of action. Bassett, Emma Barnes and Ashley Cameron each registered one hit for Tech.

Tech returns to action with a single game at Centenary Tuesday at 6 p.m.
