RUSTON, La. -- - Louisiana Tech junior defender Brittany Davis earned Honorable Mention honors on the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Scholar Athlete Team, which was released Thursday.
"She has been a rock for this team," Tech head coach Kevin Sherry said. "The players call her `Mother Hen.' A well-deserved award and recognition for a great player, student, leader and person."
Davis played in 11 games for the Lady Techsters in 2007, missing the first four and the last two with injuries. She totaled 839 minutes in the Tech backline and was instrumental in helping preserve shutouts against Centenary, McNeese State and Idaho. She attempted three shots on the season with one on goal.
The junior from Scottsdale, Ariz., ranks fourth all-time in school history with 42 games played and second in career starts with 41. Her 3.59 grade point average in fine arts earned her this award and also a nomination for CoSIDA Academic All-American.
A two-time Academic All-WAC honoree, Davis is the first player in the four-year history of the Tech soccer program to earn this regional award from the NSCAA.
