Box Score

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech junior Krissi Oliver pitched a complete-game shutout and lined a fifth inning home run to lead the Lady Techsters to a 1-0 win over Utah State Friday at the Tech Softball Complex.

Tech (27-23, 5-7) found a way to win, despite managing very little offense in the contest.

Oliver (13-11) scattered six hits and two walks in 7.0 innings of action for her second consecutive shutout. In her last 28 innings of work, Oliver has only allowed two earned runs.

Utah State (11-25, 2-10 WAC) threatened to score in a couple of frames, but Oliver continuously pitched her way out of the jams.

Aggies hurler Lindsey Benson (10-18) was the tough-luck loser, allowing only three hits and one walk in 6.0 innings of work.

Benson was pitching a two-hit shutout until Oliver lined a pitch over the left field fence despite a stiff wind that was blowing, giving Tech a 1-0 advantage.

Utah State was retired in order in the sixth and then managed one base runner in the seventh, but Oliver once again pitched her way to the win.

Oliver registered two of Tech's three hits while senior Regan Clark recorded the other one.

Utah State made three masterful plays defensively in the final two Tech at bats, robbing at least one more Lady Techster run.

The two teams meet for a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
