Bulldogs Open Spring Season at All-American Intercollegiate

Feb. 22, 2009

HOUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech golf team will open the spring season at the All-American Intercollegiate at Cypresswood Golf Club beginning Monday, Feb. 23, at 8:30 a.m.

"We are really excited to be playing in this tournament," Tech head coach Dr. Jean Hall said. "The Traditions course at Cypresswood Golf Club is a terrific course. Our kids have worked hard during the off season, and we're excited to see how they do."

The tournament will field a total of 12 total teams besides the Bulldogs including Cal State-Northridge, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas Southern, Texas State and UALR.

Last season, Middle Tennessee State won by only one stroke after shooting 891, which was one better than UALR's 892.

The last time the Bulldogs played was the Kauai Collegiate in Luhie, Kauai, when junior Matthew Harvey shot a 65 in the final round to lead the Bulldogs to an eighth-place finish. Harvey's 65 was good for seven-under-par and helped him to a tenth place individual finish.

The 54-hole tournament will be played over two days with the teams playing 36 holes Monday morning and he final 18 holes Tuesday.
