LAFAYETTE, La. -- Louisiana Tech shot a total score of 894 over three rounds Sunday and Monday at the 24th Annual Louisiana Classics played at the Oakbourne Country Club and hosted by UL-Lafayette to place 11th overall out of 15 teams.
Junior Matthew Harvey led the way for the Bulldogs tying for 19th place overall (72+73+73=218), while senior Corey Bartlett tied for 31st (72+73+77=222) and freshman Jonathan Bale tied for 45th (72+74+78=224).
"Today was a little breezy, so 72 or 73 were not bad scores today," Tech head coach Dr. Jean Hall said. "I got some good play out of Matt, Corey and freshman Jonathan. He played in his first tournament as a Bulldog and he represented himself and played well. I was pleased with him also."
Sophomore Ben Suarez (78+79+74=231) finished tied for 65th overall, while freshman Patrick Blunt (83+78+85=246) finished 81st overall.
Adam Cornelson of UNO was the overall individual winner after winning the playoff.
Tech golf returns to action Sunday, March 22, at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Golf Classic in Mobile, , Ala., hosted by South Alabama.
