MOBILE, Ala. -- Louisiana Tech turned in a team score of 911 over three consecutive days to finish seventh at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on the par-72, 7,239-yard Magnolia Grove Falls Golf Course.
"Today's conditions were tough," Tech head coach Jean Hall said. "The wind was difficult to play today. I thought (junior) Matt Harvey had a great round, but I was disappointed in our overall team play. We dropped from fifth to seventh today. We've got to get five guys playing together if we are going to be successful as a team. We can't just have one or two playing well in a round. They all need to play good golf together. Our fourth and fifth scorers need to be competitive with our top scorers."
The Bulldogs shot 303, 302 and 306 in the three rounds for 911 overall. Harvey finished tied for fifth overall (79-73-71=223), while freshman Cody Santone tied for 23rd (77-76-75=228). Senior Amrith de Soysa finished tied for 31st (72-74-84=230), while senior Corey Bartlett finished tied for 41st (75-79-79=233). Freshman Jonathan Bale rounded out Tech's finishers at 71st (80-80-81=241).
Sixteen teams competed in the tournament with 92 golfers total. Illinois State's Joe Emerich (74-68-73=215) won the event, while Mississippi State's 888 was the top finishing school.
The Bulldogs return to action Monday, March 30, at the UALR/First Tee Intercollegiate in Little Rock, Ark.
