LAFAYETTE -- Louisiana Tech hits the road for a softball doubleheader against the 14th ranked Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Lamson Park.
The Lady Techsters (12-9) are coming off a weekend at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational in which LA Tech defeated Stephen F. Austin twice before falling to the 17th ranked Aggies.
Tech has won four of its last five games and has been led offensively by junior shortstop Amberly Waits who is one of the nation's top hitters entering the week. The Cleburne, Texas native is batting .500 with five doubles, one triple, five home runs and 24 RBI.
Danielle Sheridan (.265, 1 HR, 6 RBI), Emma Barnes (.250, 16 runs, 1 HR, 8 RBI) and Kylie Bassett (.250, 1 HR, 12 RBI) have also been productive at the plate for the Lady Techsters through the first 21 games of the year.
In the circle, Tech will turn to senior Krissi Oliver (4-7, 3.56 ERA) and sophomore Meghan Krieg (7-1, 0.92 ERA).
The Ragin Cajuns (11-2) have already defeated Louisiana Tech 11-0 Feb. 14 in Lafayette.
UL-Lafayette sports a .286 team batting average led by Karli Hubbard (.512, 4 SB, 14 runs), Melissa Verde (.500, 3 HR, 21 RBI) and Katie Smith (.357, 14 runs, 11 SB).
Donna Bourgeois (9-1, 0.61 ERA) is the workhorse in the circle for the Ragin Cajuns, logging 68.2 innings of action while recording 105 strikeouts and only 30 hits and 16 walks.
