HENDERSON, Nev. -- Louisiana Tech shot a collective 296 on the first day of play at the Club Golf 2009 WAC Championships at the 7,332-yard, par-72 Rio Secco Golf Club.
Leading the way early for the Bulldogs was senior Corey Barlett who sits tied for eighth after shooting a one-under par 71. Senior Amrith de Soysa is tied for 14th with a 73, while freshman Jonathan Bale is tied for 18th at 74. Freshman Cody Santone and junior Matthew Harvey are both tied at 34th overall at 78 apiece.
The Bulldogs will take back to the tees first thing Tuesday morning for the second round.
New Mexico State is in the lead at 282 overall.
