OXFORD, Miss. -- Louisiana Tech's golf team will tee off for its final competition of the 2009 season before the WAC Championships Monday, April 6, at the Reunion Intercollegiate at the par-72 Reunion Golf and Country Club.
"We're in a great tournament," Tech head coach Dr. Jean Hall said. "This is the strongest field we've faced so far this year. There's a lot of good SEC and C-USA scholls participating on a great golf course. We feel like we're going to field our five best players and we're looking forward to participating this week."
Fifteen teams will compete in the tournament including Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, LSU and Arkansas.
The Bulldogs most recently finished 13th at the UALR/First Tee Intercollegiate where junior Matt Harvey (72-75-78=225) and freshman Cody Santone (75-71-79=225) both finished tied for 27th, while freshmen Jonathan Bale (79-77-76=232) and Patrick Blunt (78-74-80=232) tied for 60th. Senior Corey Bartlett (79-78-81=238) rounded out Tech's finshers for 78th overall.
With this being the final tounrmanent before the postseason, Hall said he's pleased with the work his players have put in to get where they are now.
"We've been working to get to this point all year," Hall added. "This will be a great final tune-up before the WAC Championships."
