MEMPHIS - Louisiana Tech ended its fall golf season Tuesday with the final round of the 2010 Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club as head coach Jeff Parks Bulldogs struggled to an 11th place finish in the 15-team event.
Tech shot a final round total of 19-over-par 307 to fall from sixth to 11th.
"This was not how we wanted to end the fall, but we simply didn't play well," Parks said. "We've had a good fall and we are going to continue working hard this winter and get ready for the spring. We are going to hit the weight room; we are going to do some testing; we are going to continue to work hard on the course.
"I thought Cody played well with a top 10 finish. We played in some tough conditions, especially today. We started 90 minutes late and it rained on us the first seven holes. Everyone had the same conditions so that is no excuse but it was a difficult day of golf all around."
The Bulldogs, which recorded a trio of top four finishes this fall including capturing the 2010 Squire Creek Invitational title, were paced by junior Cody Santone who tied for eighth place with a three-round total of five-over-par 221.
Jonathan Bale recorded Tech's top round Tuesday with a three-over-par 75 to finish in a tie for 39th place with a total of 228. Clinton Shepard (229, T43rd), Sam Forgan (229, T43rd) and Patrick Blunt (238, T67th) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs in the event.
South Alabama won the team competition with a three-round total of 878 followed by Akron (885), Missouri (892), Memphis (894), UALR (896), Tulsa (897), Mercer (899), UL-Lafayette (899), Iowa State (901), Arkansas State (902), LA Tech (903), Marshall (907), Southern Miss (908), Wisconsin (930), and Army (940).
South Alabama's Jack Hiluta ran away with the individual title, totaling a seven-under-par 209 to best Missouri's Jace Long (914).
