RUSTON - The Louisiana Tech softball team will step out of Western Athletic Conference action for one game when the Lady Techsters travel to Texas to face UT-Arlington Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
Tech is 17-11 on the year after winning two of three this weekend in San Jose while UTA is 19-16 after taking two of three against Northwestern State.
Both teams are led by aces in the circle as the contest could see a matchup of LA Tech's Meghan Krieg (13-9, 2.11 ERA) and UTA's Teri Lyles (9-9, 1.76 ERA).
Krieg has worked 142.2 innings this season, allowing 101 hits and 95 walks while striking out a WAC-best 178 batters. Opponents are hitting only .197 against Krieg including only 20 extra base hits.
Lyles has 131.1 innings allowing only 96 hits and 40 walks while striking out 73 batters. Opponents are batting only .204 against her with only 25 extra base hits.
Offensively, Tech is led by Amberly Waits (.417, 5 HR, 22 RBI), Kylie Bassett (.242, 7 HR, 18 RBI) and Jessica Kirby (.229, 3 HR, 29 RBI) while Meghan Knowles (.377, 2 HR, 15 RBI) and Kendra Harmon (.267, 2 HR, 11 RBI) have also been productive.
For the Lady Mavs, Cara Hulme (.295, 8 HR, 20 RBI), Rebecca Collom (.313, 6 HR, 20 RBI) and Samantha Chumcal (.250, 4 HR, 20 RBI) have been the biggest run producers.
Tech leads the all-time series against UTA 28-19 and the Lady Techsters have won three straight.
