HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Louisiana Tech will open its 2010 fall season Monday and Tuesday when head coach Jeff Parks and the Bulldogs compete in the Sam Hall Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg Country Club.
Tech will be one of 15 teams participating in the event which will be played on a 6850-yard, par 72 course which was opened in 1959.
The Bulldogs five-man team will consist of senior Clinton Shepard, junior Cody Santone, sophomores Hayden Stephens and Sam Forgan and true freshman Jack Lempke. Junior Jonathan Bale will also compete as an individual in the event.
In addition to the Bulldogs, the event will include Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Kennesaw State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Mississippi State, Rice, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Wichita State and Winthrop.
The tournament will open Monday morning with a shotgun start as the teams will play 36 holes and then will wrap Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes of competition.
Tech will be looking to continue the momentum gained from last season when it cracked the Top 100 for the first time in more than two decades and posted 23 wins over Top 100 programs.
The event is named for former Southern Miss golfer and coach, Sam Hall, who lettered at the school from 1955 to 1958, and later coached the program on two separate occasions.
