RUSTON - Following a fourth-place finish in its opening tournament of the fall season last week, the Louisiana Tech Bulldog golf team will travel I-20 to Ft. Worth to compete in the 2010 UTA/Waterchase Invitational hosted by Texas Arlington Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole event will be played at 7,304-yard, par 72 Waterchase Golf Club in Ft. Worth starting with two rounds on Monday and culminating with one round on Tuesday.
In addition to the Bulldogs and UTA, the field will feature Rice, Wichita State, North Texas, Central Arkansas, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, McNeese State, Santa Clara, Texas State, UT-Pan American, UTSA, Southern Illinois, Houston Baptist, Nicholls State and Texas Wesleyan.
Rice is the defending champion of the event after recording a team total of six-under-par (858) last year while Wichita State's Dustin Garza is the defending individual champion with an eight-under-par 208.
Tech head coach Jeff Parks will take the same five golfers that competed at last week's Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg in senior Clinton Shepard, junior Cody Santone, sophomores Sam Forgan and Hayden Stephens and freshman Jack Lempke.
