CHOUDRANT - Louisiana Tech will host the 12-team Bulldog Classic at Squire Creek Country Club starting Sunday morning and running through Tuesday as head coach Jeff Parks and Co. look to improve on their first tournament of the spring season.
In addition to the host Bulldogs, the field consists of Jacksonville State, McNeese State, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State, Rice, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State and UALR.
The 54-hole event will consists of 18 holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with tee time format starting at 8 a.m. each day.
"I'm looking forward to an exciting venue," Parks said. "It's always a great event. Everyone loves to come to play at Squire Creek and this year is not different. As a team, we are determined to bounce back after our disappointing showing at Rice. We want to redeem ourselves.
"We'd like to get it rolling and keep it rolling as we have some big tournaments in front of us. We just need to take care of our business. It's a competitive field and it will be a challenging event."
The field consists of a number of Top 100 ranked programs, including the 45th ranked Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee, the 66th ranked Lions of Southeastern Louisiana, the 81st ranked Gamecocks of Jacksonville State, the 84th ranked Jaguars of South Alabama, and the 97th ranked Eagles of USM. The Bulldogs enter the tournament ranked 108th.
Competing for LA Tech in the team competition this week are Clinton Shepard, Sam Forgan, Cody Santone, Jonathan Bale and Jack Lempke, which is the same five-some that teamed up to win the Squire Creek Invitational back in the fall.
The event will be Shepard's last home competition as the senior from West Monroe winds down his college career.

Fans are encouraged to come out and watch the action starting Sunday but are reminded that denim is not allowed at Squire Creek Country Club. Spectator carts will be available for a charge.
