WACO, Texas - Logan Verrett threw a complete-game one-hit shutout, striking out a career-high 14 batters in the process, as 17th-ranked Baylor knocked off Louisiana Tech, 7-0, Friday night at Baylor Ballpark. The loss marked the third straight for the Bulldogs and the first shutout since Tech fell at home against Hawai'i last April.

Kyle Roliard led off the game with an infield single to second base but the Tech offense was kept in check as Verrett retired the next 20 batters in order before Colby Johnson reached on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh. Using just 110 pitches, Verrett notched 14 strikeouts while facing just one over the minimum to pick up his third win of the season.

Making his first collegiate appearance, Chris Sadberry (0-1) cruised through his first three innings of work. However, with one out in the fourth inning, the Bears notched back-to-back singles and picked up the first run of the game as Dan Evatt reached on a fielding error at third that scored Josh Ludy from second base.

Looking to end the threat, Ben Carlisle entered the game in relief of Sadberry but gave up a single through the left side that scored Jake Miller giving the Bears a two-run lead.

Sadberry, who was charged with the loss, allowed two runs on four hits in 3.1 innings of work while striking out one batter.

In the eighth, Baylor (9-5) capitalized on four singles and two walks and added a five-spot on the scoreboard off of Carlisle. Freshman Sam Alvis got the final two outs of the inning to put an end to the Baylor rally.

In 4.0 innings of work, Carlisle allowed five runs on six hits and was charged with three walks and a hit batsman.

Louisiana Tech (8-5) will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. in game three of the weekend series with the Bears.

Notes: Louisiana Tech is now 3-6 all-time against Baylor... The Bulldogs have now dropped three-straight games for the first time since the Bulldogs dropped four games to close the 2010 season... Alex Williams saw his 12 game hitting streak come to an end... Mark Threlkeld has made 85 consecutive starts in a Bulldog uniform... Chris Sadberry made his first career start on the mound in a Bulldogs uniform.
