SMYRNA, TN- The Louisiana Tech bowling team posted a 3-9 record this past weekend and finished 16th overall in match play competition on Sunday afternoon, concluding the 2010-11 season at the seventh annual Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
In Bakers action on Friday, the Techsters posted an average a 173.79 average pinfall en route to a 3-3 record with wins over Alabama A&M, Monmouth and Texas Southern. In Saturday's traditional team games, Tech was unable to find their groove and fell in all six contests.
Kayla Ghersini averaged a score of 192 in the six games on Saturday while Houston Granger and Jessica McCusker knocked tallied scores of 185.7 and 183.5, respectively.
In Sunday's match play action, Louisiana Tech entered began the day as the 14th-seed but dropped matches against Jackson State and Minnesota State to finish 16th.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers came alive at just the right time and by doing so captured the title at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic. The Big Red rallied to beat No. 1 rated Fairleigh Dickinson, 4 games to 1 in the best of seven format. Central Missouri topped Vanderbilt in the consolation match to take third place.
